The Idaho Middle Level Association is dedicated to improving the educational experiences of young adolescents by providing vision, knowledge, and resources to all who serve them in order to develop healthy, productive, and ethical citizens.

Our Spring IMLA Newsletter will be out the week of May 7th through May 11th to all of our members. So, if you would like to receive the next edition, become a member and we will get it into your hands. The Newsletter will have forms to fill out for our Conference along with nominations for Region and State Awards.

                                              Shilo Inn,  Idaho Falls


            This year’s conference will be held in the city of Idaho Falls! We are very excited to feature amazing sessions focusing on the topics which matter most to middle level educators. As experts in your fields, we encourage our members to consider presenting. Some of the most popular sessions are those done by groups of teachers working together to share programs and projects that have worked for them NOW is the time to start preparing to attend.  

                                            ** Keynote Speaker **

                                           Jack Berckemeyer

                                                                     

            A nationally-recognized presenter, author, and humorist, Jack Berckemeyer, began his career as a middle school teacher in Denver, Colorado. After two years of teaching he was named as an outstanding educator at his school, and shortly thereafter he was identified as one of the outstanding educators in the district. In 2003, he received the Outstanding Alumni Award from the Falcon School District. Jack brings his energy, humor, and expertise of the middle level adolescent to all staff development as he helps teachers and administrators remember why this job makes a difference. Jack has presented in conference and school district settings both nationally and internationally. Jack served as a judge for the Disney American Teacher Awards and the selection committee for the USA TODAY All Teacher Team.

            Jack Berckemeyer is known for his motivating, practical ideas communicating a message of hope, laughter, and insight to the nature of the young adolescent. Jack was also the Assistant Executive Director for the National Middle School Association for 13 years and is the author of Managing the Madness- A practical guide to Middle Grades Classrooms. He is also the co-author of H.E.L.P. for teachers. Jack is currently the Director of professional development for Incentive Publications. He works with schools all over the world and coordinates the NUTS and BOLTS Symposiums located in Destin, Florida and Boulder, Colorado. Jack lives in Denver Colorado and has no pets or plants.
